What is your Civics Superpower?
This past weekend a group of students grades 6-9 gathered to talk about exactly that.
On Saturday, Princeton Civics and the Princeton Public Library teamed up for the Youth Community Service Launch Pad. The half day program brought together area students to explore how they can get more involved in their community.
We each have different skills and experiences to bring to solving problems and making our communities better. Students discussed how, whether it is critical thinking skills, the ability to connect with young children, passion about the environment, or working with your hands, there are always ways to use our talents for good. Participants also got the chance to enhance their skills in public speaking from area high school students, before diving in and finding community service opportunities that speak to them.
We were thrilled to see Han Li, Princeton High School senior and participant in our Social Pioneers program lead the event as part of his commitment to connecting young people with opportunities to get involved.
We will be watching as these Princeton area community service superheroes - they are already making a difference!
